ROD'S STORY

Bio

Rod Hart is a country music singer-songwriter known for his captivating performances and his hit single, "C.B. Savage," which gained popularity upon its release on October 4th, 1976. Living in Prescott, Arizona since the 1960's Hart's journey into the world of music began in the heartland of American country music.

Born on a warm summer day in Michigan, Rod Hart developed a deep passion for music at a young age. Traveling the country and spending time in Montana, down south and many places in between, he was exposed to various genres, but it was the soulful melodies and heartfelt lyrics of country music that truly resonated with him. Inspired by the likes of Johnny Cash, Merle Haggard, and Waylon Jennings, Hart was determined to make his mark in the country music scene.

Honing his skills as a guitarist and songwriter, Hart spent countless hours perfecting his craft and building relationships in the music industry, particularly with other players. He eventually formed Rod Hart and the Hustlers, playing to rousing crowds on Whiskey Row for many years, a famous street in downtown Prescott known for its vibrant music scene. The country bars and enthusiastic patrons loved him and his band. Prescott became his musical home, where he developed his unique sound and infectious stage presence.

As Hart's talent and popularity grew, he began to travel around the United States. Armed with his guitar and a voice that could captivate any audience, he left a lasting impression wherever he performed. No matter the venue, Hart's charismatic performances and heartfelt lyrics left a lasting impact on his listeners from Texas, to Nashville, and back home again - where he was featured as a performer and songwriter for the 1972 feature film, "Junior Bonner" starring Steve McQueen, filmed right here in Prescott. Rod's band included the warm and wonderfully talented Bob Cox, a Prescott legend in his own right. They were on stage during the infamous bar brawl near the middle of the movie. Rod's songs were scattered throughout the production version and the soundtrack of the movie; including a full rendition of "Rodeo Man" performed at the Palace bar while McQueen danced on a full dancefloor with the stunning beauty, Barbara Leigh.

Notably, it was Rod's recording of "C.B. Savage" that pushed him to national fame. Released in 1976, the catchy tune became an instant hit, earning him recognition as a rising star in the country music scene. The song's playful lyrics and infectious melody resonated with audiences across the country, solidifying Hart's position as a talented singer-songwriter.

Through success and adversity, Hart remained grounded and true to his roots. He continued to perform on Whiskey Row in Prescott, always cherishing the connection he had with his hometown and the loyal fans who supported him throughout his career. His genuine love for music and dedication to his craft were evident in every note he played and every word he sang.

It is evident that Rod Hart's music touched the hearts of many, and his legacy as a country music icon remains etched in the annals of the genre. His ability to blend heartfelt storytelling with catchy melodies created a timeless appeal that transcended generations. Whether performing on stage or strumming his guitar on Whiskey Row, Hart's passion for music was palpable, leaving an indelible mark on country music history.

Today, Rod Hart's music continues to be cherished by fans old and new. His son, Ryan still plays his songs locally to fans old and new, keeping the Arizona Morning lore alive and well! Rod's contributions to the country music landscape have solidified his place as a revered singer-songwriter, and his journey from the bars of Prescott to the national stage stands as a testament to the power of perseverance and a genuine love for the craft.
